The Bowl Turning class will teach the skills you need to transform a piece of firewood into a beautiful and functional work of art - a hand-turned wooden bowl. This 5 hour class will be taught in McLean VA. Class size is limited to one student. The class costs $250/person.

Topics covered include Bowlturning Safety, Bowl Design Fundamentals, Use of Specialized Tools, Types of Cuts (Push, Pull, Scrape, Shear Scrape)
Process Fundamentals (Mounting Blanks, Setting Speed of Lathe, Setting Height of Toolrest, Shaping Exterior, Turning a Tenon, Remounting in a
Chuck, Shaping Interior, Measuring Thickness and Depth, Cutting Rim, Sanding, Finishing, and Final Shaping of Foot)

Bowl blanks, tooling, and safety equipment will be provided. Students will be expected to provide their own PPE (masks).
